Chief Operating Officer

at The Marcy Lab School

The Organization

In a sentence: The Marcy Lab School is a college alternative that provides historically underestimated young adults with a rigorous, supportive technical education program designed to create pathways to economic mobility through high-paying software engineering careers.

The current landscape: The Marcy Lab School has aspirations to increase its number of fellows by 50% in two years and double in size in three years. To meet these goals, the organization seeks its first Chief Operating Officer to help evolve from a founder-led startup to a scalable institution. The COO will implement the systems and structures needed for growth while preserving the deep care and support that makes the organization special.

WHAT STAKEHOLDERS SAY

“We've been able to translate the skills and potential of young adults to the professional sector in a way that's atypical for most workforce development organizations… What we've been able to do through a lot of sweat equity is to get companies to give our fellows a shot for opportunities that otherwise those companies would not provide them a second look.”
